When launched in 2019, this fastback was notable not just for its impressive electric capabilities, but also for being the inaugural vehicle to be outfitted with Google's Android Automotive OS. This system was revolutionary, yet in its nascent stages, it left much to be desired due to a dearth of dedicated in-car apps. Fast forward from 2019, and the evolution is palpable.

The transition from traditional combustion engine vehicles to electric ones brought with it a surge of technological innovation, and the Polestar 2 stands as a prime testament to this shift.

Currently, the Polestar 2 boasts a suite of Android Automotive OS specific apps, ranging from navigational aids like Waze to weather updates via AccuWeather. It's not just about aiding the driving experience. Features such as the Range Assistant and Journey Log, along with the Performance app tailored for its dual-motor variants, are specially crafted to enhance the Polestar's intrinsic functionalities.

Being an EV, the Polestar 2 inevitably needs its recharging halts. Recognizing the downtime, Polestar integrated entertainment solutions, such as YouTube, into its system by June 2023. Moreover, for an expansive range of entertainment not yet integrated, Polestar cleverly incorporated the Vivaldi browser.

Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar's CEO, highlighted the burgeoning app ecosystem, emphasizing the diversification in entertainment and interactivity offerings on the Google Play Store. Pushing the envelope further, the recent addition of the Prime Video service, accessible while the vehicle is parked or charging, has been a game-changer.

It's not just about passing time; it's about enriching the recharge pauses. Ingenlath's announcement also teased the service's inclusion in Polestar's future fleet.

Pricing the Polestar 2 slightly above the £40,000 mark, potential buyers can select from six hues, and choose between all-wheel and rear-wheel drives. In terms of performance, this EV is no slouch, churning out a staggering 467 hp and clocking 0 to 62 mph in just 4.2 seconds.

Recharge? A mere 28-minute wait — a perfect window to catch an episode of your beloved show. And once juiced up, it promises a journey of up to 407 miles before the next pit stop.
