Vauxhall has introduced a new trim level, the Corsa Yes, which remarkably lowers its starting price by £5,550, establishing it as the most affordable electric vehicle (EV) available in the UK market. For now.

Now starting at £26,895, the Corsa Yes edges out its competitors, including the MG 4 EV priced at £26,995 and the electric Fiat 500 at £28,195, in terms of affordability.

Orders for the Corsa Yes can be placed starting 17 April through the Vauxhall website. This model does not skimp on features, boasting 16-inch alloy wheels, front sports seats, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Yes model is also equipped with automatic LED headlights, automatic wipers, climate control, keyless entry, and rear parking sensors, enhancing both convenience and safety.

The Corsa Yes is powered by a front-mounted motor delivering 134bhp and 191lb ft of torque, with energy supplied by a 50kWh battery, giving it a WLTP range of 221 miles on a full charge.

While the Corsa Electric currently holds the title for the cheapest EV in the UK, the market landscape is expected to become increasingly competitive with upcoming launches of more affordable models.

Notably, the BYD Dolphin is anticipated to introduce a new entry-level Active trim later this year, reducing its starting price to £25,490 from the current £30,195.

This model will feature a 93bhp motor and a 44.9kWh battery, aiming to deliver around 211 miles of range, closely aligning with the Corsa Yes's performance.

Additionally, the newly redesigned Dacia Spring is poised for its UK debut, with an expected price point of around £17,000.

It will offer a 26.8kWh battery capable of achieving approximately 137 miles of range, further heating up the competition in the affordable EV segment.
