Volkswagen is set to expand its dynamic all-electric GTX lineup with the forthcoming ID.7 GTX. However, before its debut, the auto giant has pulled the wraps off a more potent concept, the ID.X Performance.

Positioned as Volkswagen’s “vision of an all-electric sports limousine,” the ID.X Performance surpasses its GTX brethren, both aesthetically and technically. While vehicles like the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX retain a semblance to their standard counterparts, the ID.X Performance exhibits distinctive aggressive enhancements over the ID.7

The car boasts a novel carbon fibre splitter at the front, complemented by a sizeable rear diffuser. A pronounced carbon rear wing enhances its sporty demeanor. Wider wheel arches, new side skirts, and a lowered stance by 60mm give the ID.X a robust appearance. The interior is decked with sporty carbon bucket seats and red details, signifying the car's heightened performance stature.

Volkswagen has equipped the ID.X Performance with a formidable 558bhp via a dual-motor setup. For comparison, the standard ID.7 offers 282bhp, with its GTX variant anticipated to deliver around 400bhp. Ensuring optimal power distribution, the two motors are strategically placed on each axle, facilitating an all-wheel drive.

The car's ‘Vehicle Dynamics Manager’ governs the drive torque and oversees the differential lock. Notably, it appears the car features enhanced brake calipers and discs, sheltered behind the 20-inch alloy wheels, ensuring its powerhouse performance remains in check.

The ID.X nomenclature isn't new to Volkswagen. Previously, the ID.X Concept previewed what later became the ID.3 GTX. Similarly, the upcoming ID.7 GTX is speculated to be a subdued iteration of the current ID.X Performance concept.

As Volkswagen ushers in this new era of electric performance vehicles, enthusiasts and environmentalists alike eagerly await what's next in their electric evolution.
