The updated Ford Kuga is set to hit the UK market soon, and interestingly, despite the prevailing industry trend of rising prices, the new Kuga comes with a slightly lower price tag than its predecessor.

The standout feature is the introduction of Ford's Sync4 infotainment system, featuring a 13.2-inch landscape-oriented touchscreen with double the computing power of the outgoing Sync3 system.

This system supports wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto connectivity, and Amazon's Alexa voice assistant. The interior undergoes changes, with most physical climate controls moved to the touchscreen.


Notably, the new sat-nav functionality allows drivers to input their vehicle and trailer dimensions, enabling the system to plan routes that avoid challenges like tight turns and low bridges.

Ford places a strong emphasis on the Kuga's towing capabilities, asserting a best-in-class towing capacity of 2100kg for both the four-wheel-drive hybrid and front-wheel-drive plug-in-hybrid configurations. This surpasses the towing capacities of competitors, such as the new Volkswagen Tiguan with a maximum towing capacity of 2000kg and the Kia Sportage, which can tow up to 1500kg.

In terms of dimensions, the updated Kuga retains the same specifications as the 2019 model, standing at 1666mm tall, 1883mm wide, and 4614mm long. The standard boot capacity remains at 475 litres, although the plug-in-hybrid variant sees a reduction of 64 litres, resulting in a total capacity of 411 litres.


The facelifted model also introduces a new four-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain, maintaining 180bhp while improving the 0-62mph sprint time to 8.3 seconds, down from 9.1 seconds. Thats an improvement of 0.8 seconds. Other engine options see slight improvements in fuel economy and CO2 emissions.


The entry-level 1.5-litre Ecoboost and the front-wheel-drive hybrid both yield an additional 2mpg compared with the previous version.

Pricing for the entry-level Titanium model starts at £32,080, reflecting a reduction of £1300 compared to the previous version.

Additionally, a new Active trim joins the lineup, enhancing the SUV's rugged appearance alongside the sportier ST-Line.

The Kuga's towing performance, advanced infotainment, and various trims make it a compelling choice in the competitive SUV market.
