Hyundai is refreshing the Tucson with a sleeker design and a completely revamped cockpit, aligning it more closely with its electric siblings, the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. This update is part of Hyundai's ongoing strategy to modernise its vehicle lineup with advanced design and technology.

Slated for a UK release in May 2024, the redesigned Tucson adopts Hyundai's latest Parametrics Dynamics design language, mirroring the aesthetic seen in the newly launched Kona and Santa Fe. The vehicle showcases a more sophisticated front grille and skid plates at both the front and rear, accentuating its width. Additionally, the Tucson features subtly revised headlights and an updated alloy wheel design, contributing to its refreshed look.

The interior of the Tucson has undergone a significant transformation. The infotainment touchscreen and driver's display have been merged into a single, elegantly curved panel, positioned behind a new, streamlined steering wheel. This change reflects a move towards a cleaner and more integrated design approach.

Hyundai has also reorganised the center console, introducing a new haptic control stack for various car functions while retaining physical heater dials for improved usability during driving. The redesign of the center stack has allowed for expanded storage space at the front of the console, enhancing practicality.

While details on powertrain updates are not yet disclosed, it's anticipated that the Tucson will maintain its current range of petrol, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options. The core of these powertrains is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 148bhp, with the top-tier model delivering 263bhp.

In its latest facelift, the Hyundai Tucson retains the same physical dimensions as its 2020 predecessor. The Tucson stands at a height of 1650mm, a width of 1865mm, and a length of 4500mm.

The Tucson continues to offer versatile boot space options, catering to different powertrain configurations. For the non-hybrid models, the Tucson boasts a generous boot capacity of 616 litres, making it a practical choice for families and those needing ample cargo space.

For those opting for the more environmentally friendly hybrid versions, the boot space is slightly reduced to accommodate the hybrid technology. The plug-in hybrid Tucson offers a boot capacity of 558 litres, while the standard hybrid model provides a slightly smaller space at 546 litres. These variations in boot capacity reflect the balance between eco-friendly powertrain technology and the practical requirements of daily use and storage.

Official CO2 emissions and fuel consumption figures, compliant with WLTP standards, are expected to be released following the completion of the homologation process.

In 2022, the Tucson emerged as Europe's top-selling compact SUV, with 116,738 units sold. This impressive performance, two years after its 2020 launch, saw it outpace key competitors like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Kuga.

The current Tucson is priced between £31,500 and £44,630. With the upcoming facelift, a small price increase is likely but has not yet been confirmed.
