The new and upcoming Renault Scenic has been "innovatively reinvented to provide modern families with all they need to travel freely and safely, with an increased focus on sustainability", as stated by Renault.

The Scenic is Renault's newest addition to their dedication to the electric vehicle market, being a part of their E-Tech Electric lineup. It will take its position above its compact sibling, the Megane.

In terms of power options, the Scenic will be available with two distinct battery capacities. The Standard Range option comes equipped with a 167bhp motor connected to a net 60kWh battery. This configuration achieves a 0-62mph in 9.3secs, a maximum velocity of 93mph, and a projected distance of over 261 miles on a full charge.

The High Range variant boasts 215bhp and is powered by a net 87kWh battery. This increases the estimated driving range to over 385 miles, enhances the maximum speed to 105mph, and shaves 0.9secs off the 0-62mph sprint.

For charging capabilities, the Standard models support rapid charging up to 130kW, while the models with a larger battery can go up to 150kW. Customers have the option to pick between 7kW or 22kW internal AC chargers.

Furthermore, Renault has revamped the battery's pre-conditioning features and lowered its optimal working temperature. Interestingly, in contrast to the Megane, every Scenic model will come standard with a heat pump. There are also four brake regeneration settings available.

Measuring 4470mm in length, the Scenic is a tad shorter than its counterpart, the Nissan Ariya. However, Renault asserts that its notably extended wheelbase offers more cabin space than typical vehicles of its size, particularly pointing out the 278mm legroom and 884mm headroom in the rear.

Buyers can opt for either 19 or 20-inch wheels. Additionally, the vehicle boasts a completely level floor, which further augments leg space and offers enhanced internal storage options.

Renault has also given the front grille a fresh look, placing a vertical Renault emblem slightly recessed from a panel adorned with a diamond design. The edge-positioned daytime running lights draw inspiration from those seen on the Mégane.

An elective 'Solarbay' panoramic roof is another highlight, crafted in partnership with expert maker Saint-Gobain. Leveraging Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals (PDLC) alongside an electric field, this roof can turn individual segments opaque, permitting varying light intensities in distinct sections of the vehicle.

As for paint options, the Scenic will be offered in six shades: Flame Red, Midnight Blue, Diamond Black, Glossy Shadow Grey, matte Shadow Grey (a unique option for the esprit Alpine variant), and Pearl White. Depending on the chosen trim, the roof and door pillars can showcase contrasting finishes in either Diamond Black or Shadow Grey.

Designed to cater to family needs, the Scenic's interior offers several storage spots, such as a spacious open center console upfront. The rear seat's foldable middle armrest incorporates dual cup holders, stands accommodating either two smartphones or a tablet, and integrates two USB ports. In terms of cargo space, there's a 545-litre boot, which is less than the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq and the Honda CR-V. This space increases to 1670 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

Three distinct trim options will be available, featuring the newly introduced Esprit Alpine variant. This trim is peppered with sporty elements inspired by Renault's performance sub-brand. Notably, no leather is used in the Scenic, aligning with Renault's pledge to completely eliminate leather usage by 2025.

For tech enthusiasts, there's a 12.3-inch digital display for the driver and a 12.0-inch vertically aligned central touchscreen. This touchscreen operates on Renault’s OpenR Link infotainment system, which is based on Google's platform.

In a stride towards sustainability, Renault states that up to 24% of the Scenic's components are made from recycled materials. This includes a whopping 80% of the aluminium found in the doors and hood. Renault has emphasized the creation of 'closed loop' processes for recycling.

The driver's zone is constructed using 26% recycled plastic, and approximately 80% of the materials in the dashboard have been repurposed. Renault's overarching goal is for 90% of the entire vehicle, inclusive of its battery, to be recyclable when it has reached the end of its use.

The final price for the UK has not been determined yet, but it's anticipated to be lower than main competitors like the Tesla Model Y, which currently starts at £44,990.
